The Stephenie Meyer Rave

I be pretty much everyone has heard of the new books out by Stephenie Meyer. I haven't seen one person who hasn't heard of them! Her trilogy, The Twilight Series, is a huge hit among teenage girls. The gripping story about a mortal and her vampire lover touch many-a-heart.

Bound to become a classic, this book is worth reading! Alas, I haven't read all of them yet, but I'm almost there. The four books in her trilogy; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn are quite worth picking up at your local book shop or library.

I haven't read any of Stephenie's other books, but they are supposed to be amazing!
One of her books I'm thinking of getting is The Host. This story is about a whole different race of spirits, and a new world, so I am pretty excited to read it!
Although different from her other books, this one ha been on top of the book charts since may.
So I'm pretty excited about it.
The movie based on Twilight is supposed to be coming out soon too.
Ohhh, I can't wait! But in my opinion, I think they cast the wrong person for Edward Cullen.
But that's just what I think.
Thanks for reading!

Back to The Books!

The school year is ending. Many children are looking forward to the day that school lets out. Over the summer they will be enjoying them selves. What about their education? Did you know that approximately 80% of the things you learn in a day will be forgotten? What about over the summer? Many kids will push away books, tempted by video games and other electronics. How can we keep our children's education up during the summer? Books need to be read before the information inside is gained. Throughout the summer, try to read with your kids, or find out if there are any book clubs in your neighbourhood to help your kids retain the knowledge that they have gained from books. Encourage them to find books that they enjoy to read. (Off topic a little. A few months ago, my dad actually got me to read Brave New World. That book went right over my head!) If you find books that your children are interested in, then they will be encouraged to read more. (Of course, if they like reading phone books, encyclopedias, or dictionaries, don't look towards me for help!) If we can try to steer my generation towards reading during the summer, we might be compelled to read throughout the school year! Just think of how happy the parents will be when they find their little ones walking through the door carrying Mutinity On The Bounty! (Yes, I was being a little over dramatic.) Trust me. You won't regret it!

Librarys: Scarce Enough, But Losing Money?

Depending on where you live, you should have a public library nearby, but some, like the people in Walkerville, have to drive to south Windsor to go. Investing money in libraries, public or private, would be a good move on the city's side, but the city of Windsor is thinking of cutting the amount of money the libraries receive. Public libraries are practically the only place children can go to read in a friendly environment besides schools. Libraries are hard enough to get to now, but what happens when they lose money? Some might have to close, others might have to decrease the amount of books they carry. Children and adults alike will lose the valuable resources available in the library, and children of the future will not know a library at all. To me, that sounds just plain horrible. If you have any thoughts on this, please post.

Great Books For The Holidays

Thinking of getting younger relatives a good book for christmas? There may be tons of books to buy, but many children above the age of 6 enjoy fantasies. If you are looking for a good novel, then you might want to check out Eragon. Eragon is a very well written book about a young boy and his dragon, going on adventures through a large mountain range, and beyond. What drew me into this trilogy was my dad cut out a news paper clipping about how Christopher was 15 when he wrote this book. Have a gander at some info and head over to his site to learn more about Eragon and Eldest. (the sequel)

"Christopher was fifteen when he wrote the first draft of Eragon. He took a second year to revise the book and then gave it to his parents to read. The family decided to self-publish the book and spent a third year preparing the manuscript for publication: copyediting, proofreading, designing a cover, typesetting the manuscript, and creating marketing materials. During this time Christopher drew the map for Eragon, as well as the dragon eye for the book cover (that now appears inside the Knopf hardcover edition). The manuscript was sent to press and the first books arrived in November 2001. The Paolini family spent the next year promoting the book at libraries, bookstores, and schools in 2002 and early 2003"

This book is a great choice for the holiday season. It is very interesting, and has potential to become a classic later on. Look for Eldest if you have read Eragon, and get ready for more exitement as Eragon explores further into the world!

Ollie here. Welcome to my blog.

Hello and welcome to my new blog. I have a large passion for books of any length, so I thought, why not talk about? So here I am now. What I really want to gain from this blog is a group of people interested talking about recent literary accomplishments, books they are reading, and books they are thinking about reading. If you want a suggestion on a good book, I will be able to help you with finding a good one. Possibly, we could get a book club going, and we could all read an interesting book together! Who knows. This blog could turn out rather interesting if you stick with it.
