Thinking of getting younger relatives a good book for christmas? There may be tons of books to buy, but many children above the age of 6 enjoy fantasies. If you are looking for a good novel, then you might want to check out Eragon. Eragon is a very well written book about a young boy and his dragon, going on adventures through a large mountain range, and beyond. What drew me into this trilogy was my dad cut out a news paper clipping about how Christopher was 15 when he wrote this book. Have a gander at some info and head over to his site to learn more about Eragon and Eldest. (the sequel) "Christopher was fifteen when he wrote the first draft of Eragon. He took a second year to revise the book and then gave it to his parents to read. The family decided to self-publish the book and spent a third year preparing the manuscript for publication: copyediting, proofreading, designing a cover, typesetting the manuscript, and creating marketing materials. During this time Christopher drew the map for Eragon, as well as the dragon eye for the book cover (that now appears inside the Knopf hardcover edition). The manuscript was sent to press and the first books arrived in November 2001. The Paolini family spent the next year promoting the book at libraries, bookstores, and schools in 2002 and early 2003"
This book is a great choice for the holiday season. It is very interesting, and has potential to become a classic later on. Look for Eldest if you have read Eragon, and get ready for more exitement as Eragon explores further into the world!

I read this news today that might be of some interest to you, Ollie. It looks like you're going to have to wait another 9 months before the third Eragon book comes out.
"It was announced today (Oct 30) that the Inheritance Trilogy is the Inheritance Trilogy no more - a forth, full-length novel has been added to the Trilogy, expanding Eragon and Saphira's adventures.
"I plotted out the Inheritance series as a trilogy nine years ago, when I was fifteen. At that time, I never imagined I’d write all three books, much less that they would be published" said Paolini. "When I finally delved into Book Three, it soon became obvious that the remainder of the story was far too big to fit in one volume. Having spent so long thinking about the series as a trilogy, it was difficult for me to realize that, in order to be true to my characters and to address all of the plot points and unanswered questions Eragon and Eldest raised, I needed to split the end of the series into two books."
In addition to the announcement of a fourth book in the series, the release date has been announced for the third book, which still remains un-named: September 23, 2008."

Hi,
This is Isaac. You know, the kid who looked at your father's blog. Your blog looks very interesting. I have some suggestions of books that I like. I noticed that one of your favourtie movies in An Inconvenient Truth, same with me! It's cool to know that another kid (almost) my age likes the same kind of stuff. Do you know what politics are, are you interested in politics? Right know I am reading Rick Mercer Report, The Book. It is very good and features some of his best political rants. Some other books that I like are the books Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer, The Lightning Thief and it's sequel The Sea of Monsters, The Roman Mystery Series, The Charlie Bone Series. Some of my favourtie authors are J. K. Rowling, Jenny Nimmo and Caroline Lawrence. If you haven't read those books I suggest you read them!
Isaac.
Could you guys put a christmas list together for me? I have a daughter who is around your age and reads a lot of the same books that you've talked about.
What are some of the books you would recommend, and are there books that you've heard of that you would like to read?
